Instagram is following in the footsteps of it’s parent company (facebook) and is now paying more attention to videos posted on the site, one has to wonder is this action also taken because of Snapchat’s continuing dominance in the teens demographic and not just because of facebook.
The 60 seconds rule for videos had already been available to advertisers for some time now but from March 30th 2016 instagram has opened it up for everyone.
According to The Verge:
Instagram has helped that along by adding public view counts, which spur publishers and advertisers to make more videos. The company also began collecting top videos around special occasions and promoting them at the top of the feed, Snapchat-style.
